The Confluence of Nature & Nurture in Classical Chinese Medicine: Extraordinary Vessels
Time & Location
About the Event
This is the first weekend of a two-part seminar on the Extraordinary Vessels and Luo Vessels. These weekends will be followed in 2020 by further classes on the complement channels of classical acupuncture from both Sean Tuten and Ann Cecil-Sterman.
Extraordinary Vessels are the unconscious blueprint (Yuan Qi) from which the destiny is acted out through the consciousness (Ying Qi) of the Primary Channels. Because they are the foundation from which all other channel systems develop, they are the most foundational of the complement channel system and ultimately the most powerful in that they offer the possibility of profound personal transformation and cultivation. This course will examine the development of the Extraordinary Vessel system via classical Chinese understandings of reproduction, conception, and gestation. The three ancestries of the Extraordinary Vessels and their relationship to genetic & personal expression will be discussed in detail. Finally, the course will cover each channel and important trajectories, point selections, symptom clouds, and approaches to treatment interventions.
Day one and two will focus on didactic theory and demonstration of techniques. Day three will be a supervised teaching clinic in which participants will practice directly on patients in order to become comfortable with the techniques and application of the theory. In this way, participants will be able to immediately and confidently apply these extraordinarily effective treatments in their clinical practices. The course will provide 20 hours of CEU’s.
