The Treatment of Trauma
Course Description
Unresolved trauma always results in interference to the Heart-Kidney communication axis, but trauma can originate in any of the three levels: wei, ying and yuan. In this course, we will look at different types of trauma, how they impact the channel systems at each level, and how we can begin to walk traumatic imprints back out of the system.
We will look at:
Principles of trauma informed care: trust & power dynamics.
Understanding the relationship of blood stasis to physical (musculoskeletal luos) and emotional trauma (longitudinal luos).
Role of consciousness and the luo vessels in our trauma response
Role of the ancestral sinews in mitigating and “cushioning” traumatic events
Detailed channel explanation of the nervous system and physiological response to boundary violations
Intersectionality of the Dai Mai, the Kidney Divergent Confluence and the Ancestral Sinews and the self-identification with trauma at the Yuan level
Clinically relevant intersectionalities between Luo, EVs, Sinews and Divergents and clinical approaches to treatment.

Advanced Clinical Skills
Course Description
Each day of the clinical skills classes is dedicated to one of the complement channels. We begin the day with questions and answers about clinical approaches and cases. Then we have a brief discussion of the channel system of the day, whether it be sinews, luos, divergents or extraordinary vessels, and point out effective treatment strategies for that system. Before lunch, there is a demonstration of pulse reading and explanation and then a treatment and needling demonstration.
After lunch, we split up into groups and practice techniques associated with that channel system, point location and needling, pulse reading and full treatments. I will be available to provide supervision and feedback as desired.
Because of the practical nature of the course, participation is limited to 12 students. These classes are the clinical and practical arm of the online mentorship so anyone studying the complement channels is strongly encouraged to get hands-on experience with the techniques and point locations.
