Herbal Energetics

Content

This foundational course is open to anyone and will cover the essentials of flavor, nature, part of the plant used, class of herb, dosing and preparation in determining therapeutic effects.  Drawing heavily on the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing as well as Han Dynasty understandings of five element interactions, practitioners will leave with a much clearer clinical understanding of herb selection, relative dosing, and herbal combinations.  By highlighting representative herbs in each element, students will begin developing relationships with their own guiding herbs and personal pharmcopoeia.   This class will also prepare students for forthcoming courses on herbs and formulas for each of the complement channels.

Audience

This course is for practitioners who are:

  • wanting satisfying answers to their lingering questions about Chinese medicine

  • seeking a more sophisticated understanding of Chinese medical theory and treatment

  • struggling to implement complement channel theory into practice

  • reaching the limits of their ability to deal with chronic, challenging cases
